Why are we getting ripped off in Europe?
I just found out that the European servers aren't really that much European, they are located in USA and that's why we have lag sometimes.
Atleast i do, i find this very pathetic. As they call it EUROPE! They could atleast get some servers here in europe, so we don't have as much lag. But i'm pretty sure that won't happen, as bandwidth is cheaper in USA becouse the connections there are somewhat crappy. I'm pretty pissed about this, and i'm sure more will follow. Speak for yourself.
I'm having no problems and I'm as European as one gets.. well, I hate the EU, but I'm European so. |

I play on the European districts and I can't say that I notice any network lag at all 90% of the time. When I do, I just transit to the district with the highest # to be honest. Then again I rarely even lag on the odd occasions that I've tripped to the international servers.

Have you ever been to the US? If not, then how could you hate it if you don't even know how it is over there. I'm not asking for your opinion about the US either, i'm just trying to point out that we can lag more. And might as well play on the other server since it's all the same.

I think I'm going to side with Vynn when he said "speak for yourself", I don't think this is as major or as wide-spread a problem as it's being made out.
Edit: I'm on a 1Mbit connection with a terrible and crippling upload of 16Kb/s by the way. If I have it sweet then there's definitely something wrong with your line/ISP. Last edited by Principa Discordia; May 06, 2005 at 10:16 PM // 22:16.. |

My ISP is fine.
You just don't get what i'm trying to point out here, why call it EUROPE if it's not? nvm... Last edited by Phantium; May 06, 2005 at 10:26 PM // 22:26.. |

Erm, nobody is flaming. We're just saying that so far it seems you're the only one suffering from massive lag and that maybe it's not a server-side issue.

Nobody agrees with you so you want the thread closed? Nobody has done any flaming and the only angry tone is in your posts.

I feel like it'll happen, i'm not saying it is happening. And yes, i'm angry since they never announced such a thing. Shouldn't have called it European then.
For the note, i don't have massive lag and never said so. |

They call it "Europe" because it's for people who live in Europe. Because it's the "Europe" side of Worlds-at-War.

My connection is 1024/256, and I'm not saying it is not lagging at times, but it is really rare. Having said that though, I thought the servers where situated in Europe too
I'm Scandinavian btw. |

And yes i know it's European's side of the war, but still... Why not put servers in Europe while your at it? NCSoft is a big company and they could easily afford it. |

Yet again, that could be server lag. But i don't think so. Edit: Also, i can't help it either. But i'm a perfectionist, if you have a network make sure the connection isn't laggy. I'm a network administrator myself, and i'm not going to sit on a chair and look. |

there is a difference between the official location and the rest of the setup --quit whineing and look up the info
Guild Wars will have many servers located at data centers around the globe. The location or number of servers really doesn't impact you as a gamer, though, because Guild Wars is specifically designed to present you with a seamless gameplay experience. When you set up your account, you will choose a "world" in which to start. You will most likely choose the world that is closest to you geographically and where most of the players who speak your language are playing. But no matter which world you and your friends select, you will be able to play with and against players from anywhere by traveling to the International District, which you reach by using the drop-down menu in the upper left of the interface. As you are probably aware, Guild Wars tournaments also involve participants from all regions and all areas of the world. In order to give the best possible service to players around the world, we have established server data centers. At present there is one in North America, one in Europe, and one in Korea. Over time there will be more data centers, all designed to give players the fastest and most efficient service during downloads and during gameplay. |

For the note, it's a mess on the european servers. People speak all kinds of languages and try to get into your group and they'll just think you can understand them.
I myself don't have much trouble with it, but some others do. I'm not whining either, for the note learn to make normal sentences so i can read them without having to blink 20 times. /cough |

Did it ever occur to you.. that they are planning to place connections or more connections in Europe at some point in time? That is just wasnt something planned at the release of the game because they didnt know how popular the game would be in other countries?
